2020 Conference

Message from the Conference Chair

AGSA Council has made the bold decision to go ahead with the 2020 Conference in an online format. The planned Canberra conference has been postponed until 2022 and the current AGSA council has stepped in as the 2020 Conference Organising Committee. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the Council for taking on the task of organising this year’s conference. The Council felt very strongly that now, more than ever, we need to facilitate a connection within our community during this challenging time. The Council also felt that given that the society is facing possibly its greatest challenge in this generation, the theme of this year’s online conference should relate to ‘challenge’. Hence the theme for this year’s online conference is:

Solving the great grain science challenges

We are now inviting abstract submissions from presenters wishing to be considered for inclusion on our online conference program. The planned program is a cut-down version of our normal format, which this year will consist of keynote presentations, scientific presentations and short ‘rapid-fire’ presentation sessions. There will also be an opportunity to have posters and abstracts included in an electronic abstract book. We are inviting potential participants to submit abstracts for talks or posters on the topic of ‘Solving the great grain science challenges’.

The conference will only be one day in duration and oral speaking slots are very limited, so participants who wish to present are encouraged to submit their abstract as soon as possible. The online conference will be held on Wednesday 26th August. The AGSA Annual General Meeting will also be held online on Thursday 27th August.

The AGSA Council have generously decided that there will be no cost to attend this online conference. The Council has also offered to provide conference registrants with a complementary 1 year association membership. However, attendees will be required to register for the conference to receive these benefits. More information on the conference format and on the abstract submission process will follow soon.

I look forward to seeing you all online on 26th August.

Best wishes,

Chris Blanchard
Chair, AGSA Council.
